Grand River
Greenway Trail
Construction of approximately one mile of shared-use pathway along Cannonsburg Road, connecting Chauncey Drive to Pettis Avenue — part of the greater Grand River Greenway trail system.
What We're Building
Terracon LLC is constructing a new 10-foot wide shared-use pathway along the south side of Cannonsburg Road from Chauncey Drive to Pettis Avenue as part of Kent County's Grand River Greenway initiative.
The Grand River Greenway is a multi-use trail network connecting communities throughout Kent County. This segment fills a gap in the trail system, creating a safe, off-road route for cyclists, pedestrians, and other non-motorized users through the Cannon Township corridor.
The project includes asphalt pathway construction, over 1,000 feet of elevated boardwalk, a modular block retaining wall, drainage improvements, and full ecological restoration of disturbed areas. Traffic control will be maintained throughout construction to keep Cannonsburg Road safely passable.
Work must be completed within 84 calendar days, with a project deadline of November 14, 2026.
By the Numbers
This federally funded project is part of the broader Grand River Greenway master plan, which aims to connect parks, communities, and natural areas across West Michigan with a continuous non-motorized trail network.
